A Weekend Retreat with Swami Khecaranatha.

Samāveśa is a Sanskrit word that translates as divine union or immersion into or absorption by Divine Consciousness. It holds a double meaning: to immerse yourself inĀ something and to become that which you immerse yourself into.

In Khį¹£emarājaā€™s wisdom-teaching, The PratyabhijƱāhį¹›daya, he says that by apprehending the absence of thought, one becomes full of the perception of a knowing subject's own consciousness, devoid of misperceptions. One soon obtains immersion in the expansiveness awareness that is always opening out, and the consciousness of duality is thereby eradicated.

Abhinavaā€™guptaā€™s Tantrāloka [verse 1.167-170] presents three basic categories into which all the practices taught as the means for penetration into samāveśa can be classified: Śāmbhavopaya, Śāktopaya and Āį¹‡avapaya.

Through these ā€œthree kinds of penetrationā€ into the Supreme, a powerful recognition occurs ā€” one that it is at once our penetration into that state and the absorption of us back into that state. To be exact, what is really taking place is the penetration (samāveśa) of the supreme principle and its energy into the sādhaka's consciousness.

Samāveśa also refers to ā€œliberationā€ as a twofold state: liberated while embodied, and freed from future embodiments. These states are discussed as: Turya, when an individual fully and directly penetrates into their true nature, and TuryātÄ«ta, in which that nature fully and gradually penetrates the objective levels of their limited selfhood.

In this retreat Nathaji will elaborate on these important teachings and give meditations that will propel your own penetration and absorption into Divine Consciousness.
